Czech Architecture 2024–2025

Located near the HolKa footbridge, this outdoor exhibition remains on view until 12 July. It presents 35 projects selected for the Czech Architecture 2024–2025 Yearbook, offering a snapshot of contemporary Czech architecture and highlighting some of the most notable recent buildings across a wide range of scales and typologies.

Winter Games in Art II

On view at Nile House until 9 July, Winter Games in Art II explores the intersection of sport and contemporary art. The exhibition features works by Czech artists inspired by winter sports, movement, competition and the emotions associated with the Olympic Games.

During the lecture programme, visitors learned more about the collaboration between education and practice, contemporary school architecture, sports halls, brownfield regeneration, the development of the Vltava Philharmonic Hall and housing data. The festival concluded with a discussion focused on the intersection of art, design and architecture.

We would like to thank all visitors, partners, participants, speakers and the entire organising team who helped make the third edition of Rohan Design District possible.

Several exhibitions remain on view in Karlín and along the Rohanské waterfront in the coming weeks, meaning the festival story is not quite over yet.

The programme also included morning gatherings in design showrooms, guided exhibition tours, a running session around Rohanský Island and tastings of drinks from Warehouse #1. The evening was dedicated to galleries, contemporary art and informal meetings throughout the festival.

Today, the festival culminates at Spojka Events, where a programme of talks and discussions focused on architecture, design and urban development begins at 12:30 PM. Topics will include contemporary schools, sports architecture, brownfield regeneration, urban data and Czech design.

One of the highlights of the day will be a presentation on the Vltava Philharmonic Hall by Martin Krupauer, a member of the project team. Visitors will be able to see the building model and experience the future project through VR headsets before construction even begins.

Admission to the lecture programme is free and no registration is required.

The programme was complemented by exhibitions, an outdoor swap event, a running session, rooftop yoga and a variety of gatherings hosted in design showrooms. The day concluded with the opening of the exhibition Winter Images II, the launch of the Polish Design Pop Up, evening meetups with designers and architects, and an open air summer cinema.

If you missed Thursday’s programme, today offers another chance to join guided tours of remarkable buildings, visit exhibitions, attend showroom events and discover a range of activities across Karlín and the Rohan Waterfront.

Tomorrow, the festival moves to Spojka Events, where a series of talks and discussions will take place from 12:30 PM, focusing on architecture, design, brownfield redevelopment, contemporary school design and the future Vltava Philharmonic Hall.

This year’s festival is the largest edition to date. Dozens of showrooms, galleries, architectural studios, developers and cultural institutions have joined the programme. Over the course of three days, more than 60 events will take place, offering a unique opportunity to explore places that are not normally open to the public and discover projects shaping the future of Prague.

Visitors can enjoy guided tours of significant buildings and architectural studios, contemporary art and design exhibitions, as well as a rich programme hosted by leading showrooms and brands. The festival also features discussions and lectures focused on current topics in architecture, urbanism and design.

One of the highlights of this year’s edition is an outdoor exhibition presenting a selection of 35 projects from the Czech Architecture Yearbook 2024–2025. Located at the entrance to the HolKa footbridge, the exhibition offers a cross section of some of the most remarkable Czech architectural works of recent years and will remain on view after the festival concludes.

The programme also includes the exhibition Winter Games of Images II, which brings together the worlds of sport and contemporary art. Presented at Nile House, the exhibition features works by Czech artists inspired by winter sports, movement, competition and the Olympic Games. Developed in collaboration with Sport in Art, the project follows a successful presentation in Milan.

On Saturday, Spojka Events will host a series of inspiring lectures and discussions. Topics will include the future of educational buildings, brownfield redevelopment, the Vltava Philharmonic Hall, data in architecture and contemporary Czech design. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore a model of the future Vltava Philharmonic Hall and experience the project through virtual reality.

Admission to the festival is free of charge. Due to limited capacity, advance registration is required for selected events.

Článek The Third Edition of Rohan Design District Begins Today se nejdříve objevil na Rohan Design District.

The fourth edition of the three day festival of architecture, design and art will take place in June 2027 in Prague’s Karlín district and the surrounding area. The festival brings together the developers shaping the Rohanské nábřeží waterfront with architects, artists and designers. Over the course of three days, approximately 100 events will take place, ranging from large scale exhibitions and lectures to guided tours of buildings, showroom presentations and gallery exhibitions.

The opening Insiders Party welcomes around 400 invited guests, while the festival itself attracts more than 2,000 visitors over three days.

Preparations for the 2027 edition are already underway and Rohan Design District, the festival organizer, is now inviting artists, galleries, collectives and independent projects to apply. We are looking for concepts that fit the festival’s vision of connecting architecture, art and design with the commercial world of showrooms, brands and urban development.

Across the Rohanské nábřeží area, we will have access to a wide range of exhibition opportunities, including outdoor spaces exceeding 1,000 m², private plots adjacent to major developments, galleries and participant showrooms.

What can you submit?

• A solo exhibition by an artist
• A thematic visual arts exhibition (indoor or outdoor)
• A concept for lectures, discussions or individual events

that will enrich the programme of Rohan Design District.

There are no predefined requirements regarding format or scale. Applications will be evaluated based on their relevance and compatibility with the festival’s curatorial vision.

Located at the entrance area of the HolKa Footbridge, the exhibition Czech Architecture Yearbook 2024–2025 will showcase a selection of the most remarkable Czech architectural projects completed over the past two years. The accompanying publication will be officially launched during the festival’s opening evening. The exhibition will remain open to the public until the end of June.

The Winter Games in Art II exhibition, hosted at Nile House, will connect the worlds of sport and contemporary art. It will feature works by Czech artists inspired by winter sports, movement and the Olympic Games. Created in collaboration with Sport in Art, the project follows its successful presentation in Milan. The exhibition will also remain open until the end of June.

Additional exhibitions will be presented by galleries and cultural venues across Karlín and the Rohanské nábřeží district, many of which traditionally take part in the festival with their own accompanying programmes. Visitors can therefore look forward to a wide range of artistic projects and exhibitions that will further enrich the festival atmosphere.

Throughout the afternoon, architects, designers, and other experts shaping contemporary cities will share their insights and experiences. Topics will include the architecture of schools, brownfield regeneration, the development of the Vltava Philharmonic Hall, the use of data in urban planning, and contemporary Czech design and bespoke interior elements.

The lecture programme offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into current projects, meet their creators, and join discussions on topics that influence the environments in which we live. Admission is free, but registration is required for individual lectures.
