Presentation of Laura Limbourg’s Work & Meet the Artist

As part of the Summer Cinema in the bulthaup Garden, Karpuchina Gallery will present the work of emerging artist Laura Limbourg. The monumental concrete sculptures were originally created as part of her diploma project at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.

The motif of the vase began to appear prominently in her work during a study stay in Taiwan, where she explored themes of sexual tourism, femininity, human identity, and culturally embedded perceptions of the female body. Over time, the vase became a symbol of femininity, intimacy, and vulnerability. The contrast between the fragility of this symbol and the monumental weight of concrete forms one of the key interpretive layers of her artistic practice.

Laura Limbourg (*1996, Antwerp) currently lives and works between Prague and London. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, completed study residencies in the United Kingdom and Taiwan, and later continued her education at the Ruskin School of Art. In 2020, she was a finalist for the Critics’ Prize for Young Painting. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in New York, Vienna, Belgium, and at the National Gallery Prague.

The evening will also include an opportunity to meet the artist in person.
