Jan Plecháč

Creative director of the Moser glassworks and a prominent figure in contemporary Czech design, Jan Plecháč received the Designer of the Year title at the Czech Grand Design Awards 2023 in 2024, as well as the EDIDA Award (Designer of the Year) and the Pulse Award (Product Design). His debut work for Moser – the Abyss vase, the Soul of the Forest collection, and Harmonic vases – particularly attracted attention. He is also the author of significant installations such as UP (Jury and Public Award at Designblok 2023) and Born of Sand (Grand Prix at Designblok 2024). He studied architecture at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he met Henry Wielgus. Together they founded a studio in 2011, where they worked until 2019 and designed for brands such as Menu, Cappellini, Bomma, and Lasvit. Since 2022, he has been the creative director of Moser, where he builds on the best of the glassworks’ history while moving its production toward contemporary design with his proposals. Under his leadership, Moser received the Manufacturer of the Year award at the Czech Grand Design Awards 2023.
